check out that band:
Andreas Lettner – drums | Fabian Rucker – reeds | Philipp Nykrin – fender rhodes
“… a trio, surprising with an extraordinary lineup and its music being rich in variety. Having their roots in contemporary Jazz, Hip Hop, Rock and Avantgarde, a jamband in its purest purity. They are amazing!”
(Ron Burgundy, Channel 4 News Team, flutist)
“If they wanna succeed as a rockband they at least should have a bassist. In the end of the day they this has just no meaning to me!”
(Mrs. Kobalski, a neighbour)
The zero times grammy-nominated ensemble “Namby Pamby Boy” is an Austrian Indieband with the licence to teach.
Coming out of the beautiful Austrian countryside, being socialised by Austrian brassbands and classical music, they soon found their love for jazz. Three awarded newcomers are defining the word “garageband” in a new way.
The multi-string instrumentalist Philipp Nykrin, brilliantly replaces the guitarist with his fender rhodes. He and Andreas Lettner have proved the recipe for having to rehearse in a garage in terms of loudness. A singer like Fabian Rucker makes every horn player gone out of use.
Furthermore it’s also categories and phrasemongering being obsolete. The music of NPB is instinctive, electric and with no bass-addition but a lot of bad-ass-ition and even more, it is programmatic.
In their compositions they reflect on the destiny of a fictive character who at the same time seems to be pretty real.
The typical mummy’s darling, the “Namby Pamby Boy”. Irrelevance is playing the main role in the social and professional constantly stagnating life of this anti-hero. A call during a hangoverbreakfast after a christmas party or a promotion are becoming the emotional highlights of the month. There is a weak flicker of hope between the starter and the main course during lunchbreak, everything could change for the better. Namby Pamby Boy, a band for average joe, where does something like that still exist?
